The Role
As a Senior Sampling Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in carrying out and supervising the inspection, weighing, and sampling of commodities across the Metals & Minerals division. This is a field-based position, requiring regular travel to sites across Germany and Europe, so you must be based within a 1-hour commute of Hanau / Frankfurt.
Reporting to the Inspections Technical Services Manager, you will act as a senior point of expertise within the inspection team - leading complex assignments, mentoring colleagues, and deputising for the manager when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and/or supervise the inspection, weighing, and sampling of Metals & Minerals commodities to pre-defined standards
- Perform a range of audits within the Metals & Minerals commodity industries
- Produce accurate, detailed, and timely inspection reports
- Lead complex, multi-inspector site operations and manage on-site teams
- Support the manager in planning, technical queries, and SOP development
- Train and mentor junior members of the inspection team
- Communicate market intelligence to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain cost and expenditure records for nominated jobs
- Resolve client claims and contribute to Quality Investigation Report (QIR) reviews
- Ensure full compliance with company quality systems, ethics, and Health & Safety protocols
- Represent the organisation professionally at all times, acting as a trusted ambassador in the field
What We're Looking For
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 4-5 years' experience in the Metals & Minerals industry - this is essential
- Proven experience in commodity inspection, weighing, and/or sampling
- A/Level standard education or equivalent professional qualification / experience
- Full, valid driving licence and current passport
- Physical fitness to work in outdoor locations, warehouses, and aboard vessels
- Strong report-writing skills with an excellent eye for detail
- Confident communication skills with the ability to build strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Solid problem-solving ability and effective conflict / dispute resolution skills
- Good time management, organisation, and prioritisation under pressure
- Competent IT skills - Outlook and Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team
- Willingness to travel; this is a field-based role across Germany and Europe
- Must be based within a 1-hour commute of Hanau / Frankfurt
